Therapeutic Guidelines Limited (TGL) is delighted to announce it has been appointed by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing as the new digital health care publisher of the Remote Primary Health Care Manuals (RPHC Manuals). 

Recognising the significance of the RPHC Manuals, we are committed to supporting the transition to a new digital platform, enabling easy access to regular updates and guidance for the diverse user group that delivers healthcare in remote Aboriginal Health Service settings. 

From July 2026, TGL will commence consultation with the RPHC Manuals Governance Committee, representatives from remote primary health care services, and key stakeholders to support a more user-friendly, accessible digital resource and one that continues to uphold the clinical quality and the user-led ethos of the Manuals. 

To help champion this vital work and to build on the extensive largely volunteer contribution of many clinicians with experience and knowledge relevant to remote Aboriginal primary health care, we will leverage our extensive national network of clinicians with relevant remote and Aboriginal Health expertise to consolidate, update and grow the Manuals. The new digital Manuals will launch in February 2027, guided by key stakeholders and representatives to ensure the history and ethos of “by the user, for the user” continues to take centre stage in its digital future.

Lyn Byers, Chair of the RPHCM Editorial Committee and member of the RPHCM Governance Committee, said the Committee is delighted to be working with TGL to maintain the remote primary health care focus as the manuals now transition to digital format, enabling a contemporary approach with timely updates.

“The first publication of the Manuals provided protocols for the safe management of common conditions by nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners in remote (primarily Aboriginal) health practice.  Remote primary health care continues to evolve as do the demands on those providing services. The Manuals have responded to these changes and have provided a trusted source of guidance and leadership.”

The suite of RPHC Manuals includes the CARPA Standard Treatment Manual, Minymaku Kutju Tjukurpa Women’s Business Manual, Clinical Procedures Manual and Medicines Book. The manuals have been written and produced by remote health practitioners since the publication of the first CARPA manual in 1992.
