From today, a trusted name in injectable medication safety will start reshaping a routine clinical procedure for frontline health professionals with a new point-of-care tool.

The 10^th edition of the Australian Injectable Drugs Handbook (AIDH10), launched today, will bring this trusted clinical resource into a new era that will have an immediate and positive impact on complex workflows at the point of care. 

The AIDH10 app introduces the new Infusion Rate Calculator. Designed to support and streamline complex workflows, it can help reduce the need for multistep calculations when preparing and administering injectable medicines. Health professionals can focus more on providing the best direct patient care and do so more efficiently. 

The Infusion Rate Calculator is part of a significant upgrade to the AIDH digital experience. The app features a user-led redesign, offering a more intuitive interface and easier access to clinical guidance at the point of care.

AIDH10 also marks the first edition developed under a partnership between Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) and Therapeutic Guidelines Limited. Content has been extensively reviewed and updated by pharmacists and nurses to ensure its currency, while the app itself has been redesigned and is now via the Therapeutic Guidelines platform.

The new edition includes updated information on more than 500 injectable drugs, including 29 newly added entries. Notable clinical updates include new guidance on the preparation and administration of the first antimicrobial dose for adults with sepsis, a condition linked to avoidable and preventable deaths.

Building on nearly 30 years of clinical use, AIDH10 will modernise a widely trusted resource for today’s healthcare environment.
