What is Guideline Host?

Guideline Host is a mobile application containing standard treatment guidelines, essential medicines lists, protocols, frameworks and other information resources. Currently there are country Guideline Host apps for Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu which contain guidelines and other content which is either locally developed or endorsed for local use by the Ministry of Health. The SPC Regional Health Guidelines app contains regional guidelines and frameworks from the Pacific Community (SPC).

Go to Google Play (Android) or the App Store (Apple) on your device and search for the app you want to download.

Click ‘install’ (in Google Play) or ‘get’ (in the Apple App Store) to download and install the app.

Do I need an internet connection to use Guideline Host?

Internet connection (eg Wi-Fi or mobile data) is required to download the app, but the app works completely offline once downloaded – including the search function. You will need an internet connection to download updates to the app when new content is added (eg new or updated guidelines).

How much data does it take to download Guideline Host?

Each Guideline Host app is approximately 100 MB and it takes approximately 100 MB of data to download or update a Guideline Host app. The exact app size varies slightly for each app, depending on the size and number of guidelines it contains.

Why aren’t all guidelines showing on my app?

There are a few reasons why all guidelines may not be showing on your app: You need to update your app when new content (for example, new guidelines or an updated Essential Medicines List) is added to the app, you need to update your app so that you can access the new content.

To check if you need to update your app see the relevant app page for Fiji Guideline Host, Solomon Islands Guideline Host, Vanuatu Guideline Host or SPC Regional Health Guidelines. You can also search for the app in Google Play or the App Store which will tell you if an update is available.

Not all guidelines have been selected for inclusion on the app If there is a guideline you would like to see on your country Guideline Host app, contact your Ministry of Health or National Medicines and Therapeutics Committee.

Why can’t I find my country’s Guideline Host app in Google Play / App Store?

Guideline Host apps are currently available for Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and the Pacific Community (SPC Regional Health Guidelines app). Some apps are ‘regionally restricted’ meaning that you can’t download the app if you are outside the countries where it is available.

Sometimes your account for Google Play or the App Store may be set to a different country to the one you are in, particularly if you purchased your phone while overseas. In this case you will not be able to find the app by searching in your app store.

To check if regional restriction is the issue, click on the app you would like to download below – you will see a message ‘this item isn’t available in your country’ (or similar).

If your device is set to a different region, but you require access to one of these apps, we may be able to provide an alternative way of accessing Guideline Host apps for Android users only – please email partnershipprogram@tg.org.au

If you have an Apple device you will only be able to access the app if you change your account setting to the correct region. Changing your account country may affect other apps on your device.
