November 2007 updates have been released for eTG complete and miniTG (PDA version). Included is a complete revision (version 5) of Therapeutic Guidelines: Analgesic. Key changes since the previous version (published in 2002) include a complete revision of obstetric pain chapter, inclusion of psychological aspects of pain management and wider coverage of acute and chronic pain.

- wider coverage of the differences in clinical presentation, pathophysiology and approaches to management of acute and chronic pain
- psychological aspects of pain management, including an expanded discussion of cognitive behavioural therapy
- a comprehensive re-write of the obstetric pain chapter.

Enid Meldrum retires as Marketing Coordinator this month. In the eight years she has been with the organisation, Enid has made an enormous contribution to marketing and customer relations and she has raised our public profile in the nicest possible way. Everyone at TGL is very grateful to Enid for her loyal and committed input and we wish her a long, healthy and happy retirement.
Editor Jill Pope is also leaving this month to take up other interests. In her four years with the organisation she has made a significant contribution to the editorial expertise at TGL, for which we are all very grateful. We wish her well for the future.

eTG complete July 2007
The latest issue of eTG complete includes Therapeutic Guidelines: Oral and Dental.
This brand new title was produced in conjunction with the Australian Dental Association. It provides sound advice for the management of most oral and dental situations where a prescription may be required. In some cases, nondrug treatment is recommended rather than a prescription.
Oral and Dental will provide valuable assistance to general dental practitioners in their day-to-day practice and other health professionals, particularly those working in remote areas, if they are consulted by patients with dental problems. It has been written by the Oral and Dental Expert Group and is endorsed by dental and medical organisations.

2008 NHMRC's National Institute of Clinical Studies Fellowship
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) in partnership with Therapeutic Guidelines Limited (TGL), is offering a NICS Fellowship for a future leader in the uptake of guidelines in general practice. The successful Fellow will have the opportunity to undertake a project focussing on increasing the uptake of Therapeutic Guidelines. NICS is holding a fellowship information session on Wednesday 6 June 2007. Coming soon to eTG Complete - Oral and Dental Guidelines
The July 2007 release of eTG Complete will include our new title – Therapeutic Guidelines: Oral and Dental, version 1. This new title has been written in conjunction with the Australian Dental Association and provides the best available current evidence about oral and dental problems. As well as general endorsements, Oral and Dental is endorsed by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, the National Heart Foundation, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, and the dental faculties of the Universities of Adelaide, Melbourne, Queensland, Sydney and Western Australia.

New releases
Version 3 of Therapeutic Guidelines: Neurology, produced by the Neurology Expert Group, has been published. All neurology topics have been thoroughly revised and updated, in particular those relating to epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and stroke. Other key improvements include information on the place of new treatments and additional tables.
The March 2007 issue of eTG complete has been released. This issue includes the updated version of Neurology. For further information on eTG complete, see our demonstration version.
Presentation on the latest version of Antibiotic title
One of our editors, Jenny Johnstone, gave a presentation to the infectious diseases and microbiology staff at Monash Medical Centre on 9 March 2007. Dr Tony Korman, Director of Infectious Diseases at Monash and member of the Antibiotic Expert Group, invited Jenny to give an update on the major changes in version 13 of Therapeutic Guidelines: Antibiotic.

TGL welcomes Gary Layton to the new position of Marketing Director. Gary was previously Director of Business Development of the International Diabetes Institute.
