NICS symposium
Production manager, Jonathan Dartnell, gave a presentation, Therapeutic Guidelines: Usability, Sustainability and Independence at a symposium organised by the National Institute of Clinical Studies in Melbourne on 19-20 October 2006.
Australian-German connection
Following a visit to TGL in 2005, Günter Ollenschläger, Director of the German Agency for Quality in Medicine, invited TGL to be a partner in a joint symposium, Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Practice Guidelines – Facts and Fiction, in October 2006 in Berlin.
Ten speakers from Germany, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia gave interesting presentations which stimulated discussion with the 50 participants.
From TGL, Mary Hemming, CEO, gave a talk Putting Evidence into Practice – Opportunities and Barriers and Alice Glover, Editor, in her presentation dealt with the important question, What Kind of Evidence-Based Guidance do Practitioners Need in Every Day Practice?

FIP, Brazil 2006
Production Manager, Jonathan Dartnell, attended the 66th International Congress of FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation) in Salvador Bahia, Brazil (25-31 August 2007). Jonathan presented two papers at this conference:
- Therapeutic Guidelines: International Cooperation in the Development and the Provision of Standard Treatment Guidelines
- Antimicrobial Resistance in Australia: Monitoring and Influencing Antimicrobial Use and Resistance.

New release
Therapeutic Guidelines: Antibiotic, version 13, is released. This title has been regularly updated since it was first published 28 years ago, in 1978.
SHPA Workshop
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia held a Drug Information Workshop in Melbourne (21-22 July 2006). Mary Hemming (CEO) and Jonathan Dartnell (Production Manager) gave presentations at this workshop.
Mary’s presentation was titled Global Access to Independent Drug Information: The Role of Therapeutic Guidelines Ltd. outside Australia.
Jonathan presented on Preparation of Independent Drug Information Sources.

A new title Therapeutic Guidelines: Rheumatology is released this month as a book and as part of eTG complete and miniTG.
For subscribers to eTG complete there is a further increase in the technical enhancements: the recently introduced information ("i") button has been included on drugs recommended in all new and updated topics. Clicking on the "i" button reveals pregnancy, breastfeeding and PBS information for that particular drug.
January
The January release of eTG complete and miniTG includes 3 updated chapters on respiratory infections developed by members of the Antibiotic and Respiratory Expert Groups. The print version of Therapeutic Guidelines: Antibiotic, version 13, will be available in July 2006.
