FAQ
There is a list of Frequently Asked Questions available for miniTG.
iSilo manual
miniTG runs on the iSilo browser. The iSilo manual goes into greater depth on the features of the iSilo browser than this manual. It is available for various device types here. This manual refers primarily to the Palm version of the iSilo manual, but the principles are the same for all device types. Navigation
Navigation in miniTG is possible through 4 main routes: Index, Topic browsing, Contents and Search. The clinical question or problem may determine which of these methods is the most appropriate.
Index
The Index is probably the fastest way to find information in miniTG. It is hand-crafted, and contains an amalgamation of the information that is in the indices of the print books. To use the index most effectively, we recommend that you open the index screen, select the letter of the word you are looking for, and then use the Find function ( ) of iSilo with the Entire Document checkbox unchecked to find your term in the index. Tap the find again button ( ) until you reach your desired term in the index. Then tap on the term to take you to the topic.
Topic browsing
To access the topics associated with a particular book or title, simply click on the title from the miniTG home page ( ) (eg Analgesic, Antibiotic, Cardiovascular etc), or choose its title from the list of bookmarks ( ). Topic browsing and drilling down to information in this way may be useful if you already know the whereabouts of a topic or section within the guidelines.
Contents
Using the Contents option to navigate gives you the opportunity to see the full contents of miniTG as you are browsing. You can expand and contract books to see subtopics. To open the page associated with a book icon, tap it twice (once to open the book, and then a second time to open the topic that is associated with it).
Search
The Find function, provided by the iSilo browser, allows you to search the entire contents of miniTG. To do this, you will need to open the Find dialogue ( ) and check the Entire Document checkbox. You can search Down (i.e. forward), Up (i.e. backward) or Top to Bottom (start at the top and search forwards). To repeat your search (i.e. "find again") tap the Find Again button ( ).
Other iSilo features for navigation
iSilo includes other features for navigation. These include:
- scrolling
- links
- jump history (forward/back buttons)
- bookmarks
Please refer to the navigation section of the iSilo manual for more details. Bookmarks
The Bookmarks feature, provided by the iSilo browser, allow you to mark locations within miniTG and so easily return to them at a later time.
Please note that bookmarks may not function correctly after installation of an update as the page numbers may change between releases.
Local Bookmarks
You can create Local Bookmarks in miniTG. They behave much like Bookmarks (or Favorites) work in your web browser. Once you create a Bookmark, it appears in the bookmark menu ( ).
Alphabetisation
If you create a lot of Bookmarks, you can alphabetise them to make finding what you want easier. See the editing bookmarks section of the iSilo manual.
Marks
Marks are like Bookmarks, except they don't have names.
Unnamed marks
You can create a Mark at any point in the document, and then return to it at a future time. You can only have one Unnamed Mark. One situation in which you might want to use it is if you want to remember your current location before scrolling through miniTG to scan for some other information. You can Mark the current location with the unnamed mark, scan for the information, and then return to the Unnamed Mark. For more information, see the marks section of the iSilo manual.
Page Marks
Page Marks allow you to:
- jump to the top or bottom of the page
- jump to the previous or next page
- jump to the first or last page
- jump to a specific page (by typing in the page number).
For more information, see the marks section of the iSilo manual. Display options
Font size
You can change the font size. You need to do this with the miniTG file open, and the settings are specific to the miniTG file. To change the font size:
- on Palm, open the Options menu and choose Font...
- on Pocket PC, open the Tools menu and choose Options...tap the Display tab.
You can change the font size, and also select absolute or relative font sizing. If you select relative, then text display is in a size relative to the selected size, so you can select larger to make all text relatively larger or select smaller to make all text relatively smaller. If absolute is chosen, all text displays in the specified size regardless of the font size specified in the document.
For more information on font display, please refer to the font section of the iSilo manual:
Table rendering
Table rendering can be turned on or off. However, it is essential that table rendering is on, because the tables in miniTG become very difficult to understand with table rendering turned off.
Full screen mode
Full screen mode gives you more space to view the pages by removing the toolbars and scrollbars. To enter fullscreen mode:
- on Palm, from the Tools menu, choose Full Screen, or use the grafiti shortcut
F.
- on PocketPC, from the Tools menu, choose Full Screen. To exit full screen on either device type, press any of the device buttons (the buttons below the screen).
Other iSilo display features
Other display features provided by iSilo are laid out in the iSilo manual (for Palm, for PocketPC).
